On Friday June 18th, 2010, grade 12 student Valez Lumi was honoured along with 68 other Calgary and area high school graduates at the Calgary Herald Class Act Banquet and Reception. Valez’s inspiring journey as a refugee from Kosovo to Canada followed by her academic successes is a true testament to the power of the human spirit that was recognized among our graduates for 2010. Valez will participate in graduation exercises on Monday June 28, 2010 and will be attending the University of Calgary in the fall. Congratulations Valez!
Mr. Dugas’ welding students recently held a friendly competition down in the welding lab. Eight students participated in the project. Their challenge was to weld their own design out of 5 horseshoes and complete the project in 5 school days. Once the final projects were in, Colby Zboya was selected as the winner with his sculpture of a Cowboy. Honorable mentions went to the designers of a Wine Bottle Holder, a CD Holder and a Crown. Watch for more creative projects from the welding lab/wood shop next year!
