Bishop Carroll Graduates Named to Canadian Women’s Olympic Team
On Monday, December 21, Hockey Canada announced the 21 player roster nominated to represent Canada’s National Women’s Team at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C.
Bishop Carroll graduates Hayley Wickenheiser (4th Winter Olympic Games) and Carla MacLeod (2nd Winter Olympic Games) were selected for the team as forward and defense respectively. Wickenheiser has been named captain of Canada’s National Women’s Team for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, while MacLeod, named the most valuable player at the world championships earlier this year, is considered one of the best offensive defenders in the game. The women’s hockey tournament opens on February 13, 2010, with Canada facing Slovakia at Canada Hockey Place.
Hayley Wickenheiser is a 1996 Bishop Carroll graduate and Carla MacLeod graduated in 2001. Congratulations to both of these Alumni and good luck at the Olympics in Vancouver!
