Chaplains Message:
An Easter Tour of Hope
The daily scripture readings during the Easter Season give us insight into the post resurrection lives of the first followers of Jesus. These women and men were “finding their way” in a world that perhaps looked the same as before, but they were doing so with a radically altered perspective. They recalled the teachings of Jesus, shared their stories, experiences and insights, and strived to incorporate their new understanding into their living.
Two thousand years later, we are still finding our way as disciples of Jesus. And two thousand years later, scripture still grounds us and reminds us who we are.
An incomplete tour of the Easter readings offers a wealth of reminders.
We are baptized. (Galatians 3:27)
We are clothed in Christ. (Galatians 3:27)
We are companions of Jesus. (Acts 4:13)
Our prayers are answered. (Psalm 34:4)
Our fears subdued. (Psalm 34:4)
We have the promise of eternal life. (John 3:16)
God is always with us. (Matthew 28:20)
We believe. (John 3:16)
We are of one heart and one soul. (Acts 4:32)
God has claimed us. (1Peter 2:9)
We live in God’s light. (1Peter 2:9)
Great grace is upon us. (Acts 4:33)
God gives us peace. (John 14:27)
We are not alone. (Matthew 28:20)
I encourage you to read these gems from scripture and take them to prayer.
Their message, and the God who sent them, can surely ground us, comfort us, and help us “find our way” as 21st century followers of the Risen Christ.
